Mainoo wrote the ending. Casemiro covered the ground. Bruno ran the show. Here's how every United player rated from the 3-2 win at Old Trafford.

A 3-2 win, the double over Liverpool, Champions League sealed. Bruno was the best player on the pitch and didn't get an assist for it. Mainoo wrote the ending. Casemiro keeps doing things 33-year-old defensive midfielders aren't supposed to do. Here's how they rated.

🏆 Match Ball: Kobbie Mainoo

He's twenty. He signed his new contract on Wednesday. He scored the winner against Liverpool on Sunday. There is a version of the next decade where this kid is the most important player at the club and Sunday was another example why. 8.5/10.

Goalkeeper

Lammens — 6/10 Twenty-nine games into his United career and this was the first error leading to a goal. The bar he's set for himself is so high that one misplaced pass only makes him look mortal.

Defense

Dalot — 6.5/10 Solid defensively, did the wide work the game required, didn't get exposed by Liverpool's wide threats. It wouldn’t be a Dalot performance without the completely inexplicable missed shot.

Heaven — 7.5/10 Again, INEOS picked this kid up from Arsenal for about a million pounds and he’s a reliable Premier League centre-back at 19. Great bit of business, another solid performance.

Maguire — 7.5/10 Another solid Maguire performance. Assured at the back and dealt with headers in his usual calm way. Partnered well with Heaven.

Shaw — 7.5/10 A full ninety. Multiple overlaps at 2-2 that helped create attacking threat down the left hand side. Whatever the medical staff are doing, keep doing it.

Midfield

Casemiro — 7/10 Had a wide open header he sent over the bar from a Bruno free kick. Other than that was calm and compose and was there when needed to break up attacks and play the ball forward.

Mainoo — 8.5/10 See Match Ball above. Carrick said after the Chelsea win two weeks ago that it was the best performance he'd seen from him in a United shirt. Sunday was better. Both are probably already obsolete. He's twenty and his ceiling moves up every match.

Fernandes — 8.5/10 Bruno didn’t get his share of the record today but not for lack of trying. He covered the entire pitch as usual and even if he didn’t get the assist for Sesko’s goal he was definitely responsible for it. Another Captains performance.

Attack

Mbeumo — 6/10 A mixed outing. He ran well and was involved some good combinations in the first half. Also tracked back and fought for the team. Could have scored off a ridiculous Bruno touch and assist (if it wasn’t offside) but hasn’t been the player he was in the first half of the season for while now. Is it Afcon?

Cunha — 8/10 Scored the first goal, then put in the kind of defensive shift that we’ve come to expect from him since he signed. He’s always an outlet on the left and a counterattacking threat. The iconic goal celebration helps as well.

Sesko — 7.5/10 Sesko has quietly become one of the most in form strikers in the league since Carrick took over. Bruno playing higher up helps but he has quieted the doubters with his nose for goal. Scored a strikers goal today, even if it was a handball.

Subs

Amad (46') — 5.5/10 Came on at halftime and gave the ball to Szoboszlai inside two minutes. Liverpool scored. Something has been off for a while but he never stopped running or trying to make something happen.

Dorgu (75') — 6/10 Came on for Mbeumo with United bleeding momentum and the manager wanting fresh legs to press and battle on the left. Two minutes later Mainoo scored. Coincidence? Probably. Good to see him get some minutes in his legs.

Zirkzee (87') — 6/10 Came on for Cunha with he game already decided. Very little involvement but held the ball up well when called on.

Yoro (90') — N/A On for Bruno to add a defender for stoppage time. No actions at all.

Manager

Carrick — 8/10 United were all over Liverpool for the first half hour so the tactics were right out of the gate. Was quick to make subs to change things in the second half. Amorim tactics didn’t come out till stoppage time. None of the goals were anything he did, two players just made a poor decision.

3-2. The double. The Champions League.
